VCUQatar is offering Acrylic Colors - Creative Techniques and Effects classes this spring. Participants must buy their own materials and bring along. Payment can be made online here or visit the VCUQatar shop in-person for registration.

The focus of this class will be showing you the vast range of different effects and creative techniques you can achieve with acrylic paint and combined materials.

Class Outline
- Scraping, glazing and layering: Students will learn how to ‚paint‘ with different spatula techniques and they will learn how the glazing and layering technique allows to build up colors and foundations of great depth and richness.
- Sgraffito and paint combing: Score into the wet paint to reveal the colors and paintings underneath by using different tools.
- Stenciling and Masking: Create and prepare your own stencils and apply decorative shapes on the artwork.
- Printing Techniques: Crayon Rubbing/ Frottage and Stamping with different tools.
- Collage: Glue pieces of different papers onto the working surface to achieve interesting textures and designs.
- Texturing: Achieve different texturing effects by using acrylic modeling paste. Start work on the final project
