Here are the details:
This course will enable participants to understand a variety of media and techniques to create fashion illustrations with different fashion fabrics.
Participants will also be introduced to diverse fashion drawings and fashion illustrators. This course will provide an opportunity of placing two or more fashion figures in a page of portfolio drawing, in a way that reflects knowledge of fashion figures and design layout with a combination of lecture, demonstration, and studio time.

Class Outline
- Brief introduction to the art of fashion illustration, major materials, and basic techniques: Begin with fashion figure proportions. Discuss goals and experiences of participants.
- Draw fashion figures with sketching guidelines for various poses (Introduce to marker drawing)
- Draw fashion figures and sketch garments, covering various garments and garment details (Learn how to use fine liners)
- Draw fashion figures and render details of fabrics: Introduce to watercolor or gouache painting and basic rendering techniques (Submit favorite fashion styles for Week 5 & 6)
- Project I: Brief introduction to design process to create a fashion collection: Illustrate three chosen styles that are cohesive (Discuss fashion styles, layout, and back views)
- Project I to be continued: (Choose a theme of Project II for Week 7 & 8)
- Project II: Sketch one or two looks corresponding to a certain illustrator, an iconic fashion look, a look from the latest collections, or a look of your own design. (Introduce to charcoal drawing or ink wash for fashion illustration)
- Finish Project II and Presentation
