VCUQatar is offering Acrylic Colors - Creative Techniques and Effects classes this spring. Participants must buy their own materials and bring along. Payment can be made online here or visit the VCUQatar shop in-person registration.

The focus of this class will be showing you the vast range of different effects and creative techniques you can achieve with acrylic paint and combined materials.

Start: Tue, 17 Feb, 2015

End: Tue, 31 Mar, 2015

Lessons: 5, no classes on March 3rd and 10th

Days: Tuesdays

Time: 5 PM to 7 PM

Class Outline

We will work by using the following techniques:

• Scraping, glazing and layering: You will learn how to ‚paint‘ with different spatula techniques and you will see how the glazing and layering technique allows you to build up colors and foundations of great depth and richness.
• Sgraffito and paint combing: We will score into the wet paint to reveal the colors and paintings underneath by using different tools.
• Stenciling and Masking: Create and prepare your own stencils and apply decorative shapes on your artwork.
• Printing Techniques: Crayon Rubbing/ Frottage and Stamping with different tools.
• Wax resist technique
