Paper Magic - February

VCUQatar is offering Paper Magic classes this spring. Participants must buy their own materials and bring along. Payment can be made online here or visit the VCUQatar shop for in-person registration.

Paper Magic - an intriguing form of art performed by cutting paper with a magical twist!

Paper is a very flexible medium. We can use the paper not only for giving our ideas and feelings, but also use as an expressive medium for creative artworks.You will learn to create illusion art through twisted curves of geometrical shapes, where paper is cut, folded, and painted on the way to being transformed into a piece of art, all using paper as a medium.

Start: Sat, 7 Feb, 2015

Lessons: 8, no classes on March 7th and 14th
Days: Saturdays
Time: 10am - 12pm

  • Introduction to materials, tools and handling of art knife
  • Explore different forms of curve designs and shapes
  • Introduction to the concept of illusion technique and understanding the light & dark color illusion
  • Project 1: Creating your first pattern for the artwork
  • Introducing paints with paper cut out illusion technique
  • Project 2:  Working with advance cutting and illusions with paints
  • Project 3: Creating your master piece  using advanced techniques and paints
  • Continue working with all introduced techniques and complete your masterpiece
