VCUQatar is
offering Designing Patterns classes this spring. Participants must buy their
own materials and bring along. Payment can be made online here or visit the
VCUQatar shop for in-person registration.
Here are the
details
This course
will teach you how to analyze art motives to create a pattern of your own
style.
You can
create a relatively simple continuous pattern using easy methods to apply the
pattern as a fill to an object or special area like wall hangings, frames,
wallpapers, carpets, papers as well as tile work. You will also learn several
interesting coloring techniques.

- Starting creating the pattern by making formation and showing the idea of the work

- Coloring, learning how to use gouache colors:
- Functions of Colors
- Effects of Color on Mood
- Color Symbolism by Culture
- Learning how to add texture in the pattern by using shades and different coloring technique / How to Use Organic shapes / Adding volume and learning how to do presentations
- Starting creating the continuous pattern and learning the steps for it
- Continue steps for repetitive patterns and learn how to apply colors for such designs / Final basic pattern
