VCUQatar is offering Silver Jewelry Making Basic classes this spring. (This is the Advanced classes of the Silver Jewelry Making Basics) Participants must buy their own materials and bring along. Payment can be made online here or visit the VCUQatar shop for in-person registration.

An in-depth study of fundamentals of Silver Smith design.

Students will be introduced to cutting, filigree, hammering, soldering, polishing, filing, finishing, bezel making and stone setting in silver.

Start: Wed, 4 Feb, 2015

End: Wed, 8 Apr, 2015

Lessons: 8, no classes on March 4th and 11th

Days: Wednesdays

Time: 5pm - 8pm

• Introduction to jewelry design and the tools and machinery necessary for its design and production.  Detailed lecture on workroom safety, sustainability and recycling of materials
• Filing, soldering and bezel making.
• Ring Making - Stone setting, hammering and polishing of metals. 
• Jewelry design studio, prototype sketching
• Jewelry Making Chains and pendant making
• Creative Jewelry Making

• Creative Jewelry making, finishing and final critique
